As per usual, the last week has been pretty mad. Hopefully things'll calm down, as exams are coming up!
As you may have gathered, I am a bit of a comedy fan. I know all sorts of names that other people don't, which can, if I'm honest, sometimes be a pain (just picture this... Me: 'I met a comedian!' Friend: 'Cool! Who?' Me: '<insert random comedy name>' Friend: 'Who?'). However, the two comedy-related events of this week were such that this was not what happened!
Firstly, on monday, I went to see the awesome Jack Whitehall on his 'Jack Whitehall gets around' tour. Totally awesome. Plus, because of how well-known he is, I didn't have to explain who he was every 5 minutes! Highlights included a story about an interesting use of the word 'bravo', a series of events that all keep to the motto 'get it wrong gotta be strong', theories on dates at Wagamamas (especially hilarious as my mum and I had just eaten there) and, my personal favourite, the plans and theory behind a stampede early warning system and re-inaction that would have saved Mufasa from his sudden death in 'The Lion King'. i won't write anymore, but if you're interested, the DVD should be out soon. If you're not interested, well, you should be and I also advise you that the DVD should be out soon.
My second comedy-related encounter was on saturday. After the unfortunate arrival of a man and his two horribly smelling, hyperactive dogs (a topic I will probably talk more about in a future blog post...) at the pub, my dad and I decided to move to one of the other ones in our local area. This particular place has been frequented several times in the past by my close family and myself, and is the pace my mum worked and lived before she met my dad (not surprisingly, in that very pub!). Less than half an hour after our arrival, not one but TWO comedians waled in! One was Matt Forde, who not many know, but the other was comedy legend Jon Richardson! Safe to say, I was starstruck! I managed to meet, talk with and get a photo with them, as they left just after us-we didn't want to disturb them when they were just chillin' LESS THAN 2 METRES AWAY FROM US! Anyway, that was a good moment. Plus, my picture on Facebook got 11 likes!
Final event of the week was Friday, as I went with my friend to the Royal Opera House to watch Sleeping Beauty. I may not be posh or rich or have any sort of snazzy title, but I do love a good ol' ballet (especially at £10 for the seat and a half-price-because-you're-a-student programme!). It always surprises me that they don't fall over, especially when they're balancing on one leg on their tip-toe in some snazzy pose-sometimes, I can't even manage to stand still on two feet flat on the ground!
Anyway, that's it! I did have a story about embarrassing myself at Thorpe Park on thursday, but I'll save that for a week when I'm not doing so much! That's all folks-'til next time!
